The purpose of warehouses extends beyond automated storage and retrieval. They are also production lines, distribution centres and even logistics hubs. As each year passes, the number of functions they perform increases.
Xlogistics Warehouse Automation brings a wide range of advantages, from running operations more efficiently to minimising human error.
Here are some of the key reasons why it’s worth investing in warehouse automation:
Speed up your shipping process:
A good system can help you get goods out faster, especially if you’re not using a dedicated shipping line. This will save you time and money on labour costs as well as delivery costs for bulky items that need to be moved around manually.
Reduce labour costs:
Automated systems can be programmed to work in stages or batch processes, which means fewer workers are needed at each stage of the process. This reduces overall labour costs because there are fewer people onsite at any given time.
Improve efficiency:
Warehouse management software allows managers to monitor inventory levels and make adjustments based on demand forecasts as well as real-time sales information from POS devices connected directly to the system. When this type of technology is used correctly, it can improve efficiency by nearly 50 percent without having any impact on employee morale or productivity levels.
Improve safety and security:
Sensors installed throughout a warehouse can detect changes in temperature, vibration or motion that might indicate a problem with a load or truck. In addition, sensors help to prevent theft by providing early warning mechanisms for when someone is trying to move an item without authorisation. Thus, you can monitor all the movements of your goods in real-time, which allows you to catch any suspicious activity immediately.
Warehouse automation is a great way to streamline your processes, simplify decision making and increase productivity. You’ll find out how it can be used in conjunction with other technologies and systems to create an efficient warehouse environment, resulting in greater customer satisfaction.
